Despite record breaking heat in parts of the country during October, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Information Administration (EIA) has issued a report that the cost of heating your home or business will probably be higher this winter. The EIA is forecasting colder winter temperatures and rising fuel costs. Those using natural gas are expected to pay about 10% more this winter than last winter, while those using heating oil can expect about a 22% increase. A 16% increase is anticipated for Americans using propane. Prices for electric heating are expected to remain stable with an approximate 4% increase expected due to colder weather this winter.
